Ray Klinginsmith is Rotary International President for 2010-2011. He has designated the Rotary International Theme as: Building Communities…Bridging Continents.
I would like to share a few thoughts on how I believe our club can contribute to the theme of Building Communities…Bridging Continents over the coming year.
Of course Rotary is not the only way to give back and serve your community. However, I am convinced that the 82 members of our club and the 1.2 million Rotarians within the 32,000 clubs in over 200 countries worldwide collectively do tremendous good throughout the world.
All Rotarians contribute to these good works through the Four Avenues of Service: Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, & International Service. My primary goal for our club this Rotary year will be to enhance these four avenues of service by formalizing our committee structure. Rotary International recommends that a club establish 5 committees.
The committees are Club Administration to be chaired by President-elect Mike Waller, Membership will be chaired by Past President Bob Elliott, Service Projects chaired by Jerome Dempsey, The Rotary Foundation chaired by Wayne Blair, and Public Relations will be chaired by Carolyn Peebles.
I want to thank these individuals for agreeing to chair committees for the coming year. This year we are asking that every active member choose a committee for the coming Rotary year. I believe that through an active committee structure we will not only become a more effective club but help develop future leaders.
Our club has a very proud tradition built through several decades of dedication to improving our community and beyond.
My hope is that as your President that I can lead the club in a way that continues the tradition that has been set by many before me.
Jimmy Woods President, 2010-2011
